International Biometric Group and COMDEX Establish Hotspot to Showcase the World's Most Advanced Biometric Solutions

NEEDHAM, Mass., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- COMDEX/Fall '99, produced by Ziff- Davis, today announced a joint effort with the International Biometric Group to present the IBG Biometric Hotspot. The Hotspot will feature state-of-the- art exhibits from the leading biometric vendors, as well as educational sessions to help attendees understand the practical applications of biometric technologies. The IBG Biometric Hotspot will be featured at the Las Vegas Convention Center during COMDEX/Fall, November 15-19, 1999.

``With scores of products ranging from desktop applications to fully- integrated enterprise-wide applications, biometric technologies provide highly flexible, cost-effective solutions essential to maintaining a secure computing environment,'' said Bill Sell, Vice President and General Manager of COMDEX. ``Building upon the extreme popularity of IBG's Biometric Techno Solutions Forum at COMDEX/Spring '99 in Chicago, we have more than tripled the floor space to accommodate dozens of biometric vendors in this Hotspot.''

Biometrics are technologies that verify one's identity based upon physiological or behavior characteristics, providing a more secure, easier-to- use, and cost-effective alternative to passwords, keys and tokens. Examples include voice verification, face recognition and hand geometry. Biometrics are used in a myriad of applications, including network access, database access, file encryption, Internet security, e-commerce, ATMs, time & attendance, and physical access.
In the IBG Biometric Hotspot, attendees will have the opportunity to demo and evaluate various biometric technologies such as iris recognition, finger scan and face scan. Vendor-produced educational presentations will also take place on a central stage in the Hotspot. Confirmed exhibitors in this Hotspot include: Biometric Identification, Inc.; Compulink Research, Inc.; CyberSIGN Inc.; International Biometric Group; Key Tronic Corporation, Keyware Technologies, Inc.; Mytec Technologies, Inc; NEC Technologies, Inc.; NetNanny Software International; Precise Biometrics AB; SAC Technologies, Inc.; Saflink Corporation Veridicom; Visionics Corporation.

``Tired of remembering countless passwords? Worried about hackers compromising the security of your corporate network? Looking for a user- friendly way to secure Internet commerce? At the Biometric Hotspot attendees will learn how biometrics provide an ideal solution,'' said Raj Nanavati, Esq., a partner with International Biometric Group. ``COMDEX/Fall '99 is a must- attend for organizations seeking to understand and deploy biometric solutions as a cost-effective way of maintaining a secure information technology infrastructure.''

This year's event will focus on technology for the new e-conomy, and host more than 2,000 exhibiting companies, thousands of product launches, and 200,000 resellers, IT professionals, developers and corporate managers.
