Biometrics are technologies that verify one's identity based upon physiological or behavioral characteristics. Examples include finger scan, iris scan, voice scan, facial scan and hand geometry. These technologies provide a more secure, easier to use, cost-effective alternative to passwords, keys and tokens. Biometrics are used in a myriad of applications, including: network access, database access, file encryption, Internet security, e-commerce, ATMs,
time & attendance, and physical access.
