International Biometric Group and Comdex/Spring Present "Biometropolis" in Chicago, April 17-20
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 2000--International Biometric Group and COMDEX/Spring have teamed up to present Biometropolis(TM), the state-of-the-art industry event for biometric technologies. Biometropolis will be a major feature of the COMDEX/Spring 2000 conference to be held April 17-20 at Chicago's McCormick Place Convention Center. With biometrics expected to be a hot topic for the more than 80,000 attendees and 600 media and analysts, COMDEX/Spring 2000 is expanding the show floor area dedicated to biometric exhibitors and including new educational sessions.
``At COMDEX/Spring `99, we had a tremendous response from the biometric exhibitors as well as the attendees,'' said Bob Bierman, Vice President and General Manager at ZD Events. ``COMDEX has seen the biometric industry experience huge growth and become an essential element in any security infrastructure. That's why we're building on last year's overwhelming success to establish Biometropolis as a major program at COMDEX/Spring 2000.''
The program's momentum began last year, when COMDEX/Spring attendees had the opportunity to see exhibitions from the leading biometric vendors, including NEC, SAFLINK, IriScan, CyberSIGN, Keyware, Visionics, Veridicom, Precise Biometrics, BioPassword, SecuGen, Cherry, Biometric Identification and many others. COMDEX/Spring 2000 attendees can also attend presentations from technology vendors American Biometric Company, SAFLINK, and Authentec; leading solution provider EDS; and online identity security and privacy provider
e-Dentification.
``With the resolution of the Y2K issue and the recent spate of denial of service attacks, IT departments are now focusing efforts on security,'' said Michael J. Thieme, senior consultant with International Biometric Group. ``Any major organization that has not examined biometrics as the solution to the security flaws inherent in PINs and passwords is behind the curve.''
With hundreds of solutions available, ranging from home PC security to fully-integrated, enterprise-wide applications, biometric technologies provide the flexible, cost-effective authentication essential to establishing a secure computing environment. Biometrics are technologies such as finger scan, iris recognition, voice verification, facial scan and signature recognition that verify one's identity based upon physiological or behavior characteristics.
COMDEX/Spring and WINDOWS WORLD 2000 assembles the IT solutions, education and experts needed by companies looking to develop new business and IT models and remain competitive in the Internet economy.
