FSTC to Sponsor International Biometric Group's Comparative Biometric
Test
Discounted Sponsorship is Available to
FSTC Members That Act Before March 29th
ATLANTA, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Financial Services Technology Consortium (FSTC) today announced at its Winter 2002 General Meeting that it is sponsoring Round Four of the Internet Biometric Group's Comparative Biometric Test. International Biometric Group regularly conducts comparative testing of the leading biometric systems to determine their accuracy. The tests reflect typical financial service deployment environments.
As a benefit of membership, FSTC is making available to its members discounted sponsorship and the option to nominate biometric systems for testing.
"Financial institutions considering biometric solutions must fully understand the tradeoffs between various biometric technologies as deployed across different real world scenarios. This insight is best gained through independent, comparative testing as provided by IBG," said Zachary Tumin, executive director of FSTC. "FSTC members have an opportunity to come together in a subscription consortium to provide input to the testing methodology, while lowering their individual costs to obtain test results." International Biometric Group's Comparative Biometric Testing is the de facto industry standard for organizations seeking to assess the performance of biometric systems. The test is structured to answer questions such as:
-
How well do biometric technologies work for typical users in a typical setting?
-
What is the likelihood of false acceptance and false rejections for different technologies?
-
What percentage of users will be able to use a given biometric solution?
-
How will the perception of security, privacy, and invasiveness change with day-to-day users?
"By providing comparative performance data along with detailed analysis, International Biometric Group's testing helps decision-makers assess the feasibility of deploying various biometric solutions in real-world environments," said Samir Nanavati, partner at International Biometric Group. "Independent testing of leading biometric solutions helps determine which technologies are best suited for deployment, how typical users respond to the technology, and what intangibles might otherwise be overlooked by financial institutions." The International Biometric Group's Comparative Biometric Testing is just one of eight project opportunities being introduced to FSTC members at the 2002 Winter General Meeting. Other biometric-related proposals explore the infrastructure requirements to support the use of biometric systems in cardholder authentication and a side-by-side comparison of voice biometrics solutions in financial services authentication. Information on all eight project proposals is available from the FSTC Web site at
