Honeywell Sponsors Round Five
of IBG's Comparative Biometric Testing
New
York, NY— August 14, 2003 —
International Biometric Group (IBG) announced today that
Honeywell (NYSE: HON) is an official sponsor of Round
Five of IBG's Comparative Biometric
Testing, which
will begin in the coming weeks.
IBG's
Comparative Biometric Testing is the industry's
leading independent comparative biometric test effort.
IBG's Comparative Biometric Testing provides critical
data for major corporations and government agencies
around the world planning large-scale biometric
deployments or investments, particularly in applications
such as border security, air travel, and enterprise
security.
"The
real-world performance findings from IBG's Comparative
Biometric Testing will provide Honeywell with critical
information regarding which biometric technologies are
most appropriate for various applications," said Chris
Hickey, vice president-Homeland Security for
Honeywell's Automation & Control Solutions (ACS)
business, a global leader in sensing and control
technologies for a wide range of applications, including
security and life-safety.
Honeywell
offers a broad portfolio of relevant businesses,
expertise and experience to support security and safety
initiatives by the Department of Homeland Security,
other government agencies, and the private sector.
IBG
has been conducting Comparative Biometric Testing since
1998. The Testing emulates real-world operating
conditions using live subjects, generating dozens of
performance metrics, including false acceptance, false
rejection, and failure to enroll rates.
