International Biometric Group Announces Round Six of Comparative Biometric Testing

New York, NY—September 22, 2003—International Biometric Group (IBG) announced today that Round Six of IBG's Comparative Biometric Testing (CBT), the industry's leading independent comparative biometric test effort, has been scheduled to begin in February, 2004.

IBG's Comparative Biometric Testing provides critical data for major corporations and government agencies around the world planning large-scale biometric deployments or investments, particularly in applications such as border security, air travel, and enterprise security.

IBG has been conducting Comparative Biometric Testing since 1998. The testing emulates real-world operating conditions using live subjects, generating dozens of performance metrics, including false match, false non-match, and failure-to-enroll rates.

In each CBT round, IBG tests 10-12 systems from leading vendors, selected from the range of biometric technologies: finger, face, iris, hand, voice, keystroke and signature. In previous rounds, IBG has tested more than 50 systems from vendors such as AcSys Biometrics, ActivCard, AuthenTec, BIO-Key, Biometric Security Card, BioPassword, Bioscrypt, Cognitec, Cyber-SIGN, Delean Vision, DigitalPersona, Fujitsu, Identix, Iridian, LG Electronics, NEC, NITGen, Nuance, Precise Biometrics, Recognition Systems, SAGEM Morpho, SecuGen, Siemens, Sony, STMicro, Ultra-Scan, and Viisage.

Organizations can participate in Comparative Biometric Testing in one of two ways:

SPONSOR: A limited number of CBT Sponsorship opportunities are available to qualified institutions with a strong interest in biometric test execution and reporting methods. Comparative Biometric Testing Sponsors can nominate a biometric system to be tested, they are highlighted as Sponsors in all communications regarding the testing, and they receive the full CBT report upon completion. Test Sponsors also play an important advisory role in CBT, ensuring that test execution and reporting methods are consistent with the expectations of public and private sector institutions. Sponsorship is a valuable opportunity for organizations that have a vested interest in biometric technologies. Past CBT Sponsors include Honeywell, Microsoft, American Airlines, Lockheed Martin, EDS, Fidelity Investments, Star Systems, Wells Fargo and the Financial Services Technology Consortium.

PRE-PURCHASE: Any organization may pre-purchase the CBT Round Six report and nominate a biometric system to be tested. Pre-purchasers receive the full Round Six report upon test completion. The names of pre-purchasing organizations are not made public.
