American Association of Motor
Vehicle Administrators Awards Contract to IBG for
Biometric Study
New York,
NY—April 14, 2003—The American Association of Motor
Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) has awarded a contract to
International Biometric Group (IBG) to provide
assistance to AAMVA's Unique Identifier Task Group in
determining if a biometric can be successfully used to
conduct one-to-many matching in a system of more than
200 million records.
IBG has
extensive experience evaluating the use of biometric
identification technologies in large-scale one-to-many
applications. IBG has conducted similar studies for
clients such as the Federal Aviation Administration, the
White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and
the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
AAMVA's
Unique Identifier Task Group is charged with developing
a way to uniquely identify an individual such that:
·
A holder will
have no more than one driver license (DL)/identification
card (ID);
·
Authorized users can verify that the holder of a DL/ID
card is the individual to whom the card was issued;
· And
an individual's driver record contains only
information that pertains to that individual.
IBG's
technology-independent and vendor-neutral position in
the biometric industry, as well as its substantial
experience in large-scale biometric system evaluation,
make IBG uniquely qualified to assist AAMVA's Unique
Identifier Task Group with this project. IBG brings to
this engagement a hands-on understanding of the
real-world capabilities of every leading biometric
technology, IBG's proven Large-Scale Project
Methodology, and industry leadership in defining privacy
issues in biometric technologies and deployments.
