Industry speakers included representatives from dataPrivacy Partners Ltd.; Identix; Iridian; LaserCard Systems; Printrak, A Motorola Company and Sharp.

Following an opening keynote from Mr. Nanavati on the state of the industry, Mr. Neuman provided the audience with a government perspective in a presentation entitled "The Evolving Federal Agenda for Biometric Research."

During their session on the U.S. VISIT (Visitor and Immigrant Status Indication Technology) program, Mr. Mocny and Mr. Williams reported that they anticipate the U.S. VISIT system will be implemented by year-end at all airports and seaports and will apply biometrics technology. The program had an original target completion date of October 2004, but has been accelerated as border security has become a priority.

In his presentation on "Applications of Biometrics in Aviation Security," Mr. Lazarick discussed biometrics in registered traveler applications, the National Transportation Worker ID Card (TWIC) and watchlist surveillance applications.

Mr. McClevey spoke on behalf of ICAO, answering questions about ICAO's May 27 announcement of the global blueprint for the integration of biometric identification information into passports and other Machine Readable Travel Documents.

"This is one of the single most important events in our industry," said Behnam Bavarian, Vice President of Engineering for Printrak, A Motorola Company, and one of the conference speakers.

"I was pleased with the breadth of the viewpoints in the different sessions," said David Plaisier, assistant design engineer at Veridian Corporation. "I would suspect each of us come as attendees with a specific niche interest and it has been covered. It's not just politics and it is well appreciated."

"IBG and IDG World Expo have brought together all of the players in biometrics," said Peter Hope-Tindall, privacy architect at dataPrivacy Partners Ltd. and a speaker at the conference. "The format of the conference was educational and intimate and provided excellent networking opportunities."

Mr. Giles' session, "U.K. Home Office's Immigration and Asylum Fingerprinting Program," examined lessons learned and the application of this knowledge to other large-scale biometric immigration projects.

In the event's closing keynote, Dr. Strong addressed "The Science of Biometrics for Travel Documentation." Dr. Strong is currently on detail from the National Science Foundation to the Department of Homeland Security to assist in establishing a new research organization in the Science and Technology Directorate.

On Thursday, June 12 at 1:00 p.m. EDT, IBG will lead a teleconference debriefing on the critical information presented at the BiometricsWorld Executive Conference on biometrics and travel documentation.
